Dedicated to the memory of Reverend Canon Paul Bentley

This site is a tribute to Reverend Canon Paul Bentley. He is much loved and will always be remembered.

After serving in the Royal Navy for 26 years, Paul was ordained Deacon in 1993 and ordained Priest in 1994. He was Curate at St. David’s and St. Michael & All Angels, Exeter in the Diocese of Exeter from 1993-1996. Paul moved to the Diocese of Derby in 1996 and was appointed as Chaplain to the Derbyshire Community Health Services until 2000 and he was also Priest in Charge of All Saints, Marlpool from 1996 until 2002.  Paul served as the Hospital and Hospice Chaplain at Amber Valley Primary Care Trust from 2000-2002, then moving to the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham when he became the Hospital and Hospice Chaplain to the Mansfield District Primary Care Trust from 2002 until 2013.  Paul was an Honorary Canon of Southwell Minster from 2011 and served as Associate Priest of St. Lawrence Mansfield, St. Alban Forest Town and Mansfield Oak Tree Lane from 2013 until his retirement in 2017.  Paul served with Permission to Officiate from 2018, continuing his ministry with the Diocesan Healing and Wholeness Team.  Paul was Chaplain and Chair of the Mansfield branch of the Royal British Legion and Chaplain to the Royal Naval Association Mansfield.

Paul died peacefully after a short illness on 16th December 2023; he leaves a widow Sandra, two adult children and three grandchildren.
